Delhi Civil Lines bungalow at centre of row formally allotted to CM Atishi

The Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) on Friday formally allotted the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow in the Civil Lines area to chief minister Atishi, a day after securing its keys from the AAP leader.
This bungalow was previously occupied by former CM Arvind Kejriwal, who vacated it following his resignation.
The PWD’s letter stated that the bungalow was allotted to Atishi as per the provisions of the Delhi Administration Allotment of Government Residences (General Pool) Rules, 1977.

Atishi is required to accept the allotment and submit necessary documents, including attested family photographs, within eight days of receiving the offer. She will then be issued an authority slip to take possession of the property.
The allotment letter also outlines that Atishi must vacate her previously allotted residence on Mathura Road within 15 days after taking possession of the Flagstaff Road bungalow. The Mathura Road residence was assigned to her last year when she became a minister in the Delhi government.

The PWD letter includes strict conditions, warning that any unauthorized construction or damage beyond reasonable wear and tear could lead to the cancellation of the allotment.
It also stated that the bungalow remains under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and other agencies for alleged violations during its reconstruction. Atishi has been advised to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigations.
The property has become the centre of a political storm, with Kejriwal’s swift departure followed by Atishi’s temporary occupation. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the Lieutenant Governor (LG), acting under pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), of forcing Atishi to vacate the bungalow.
The BJP claimed that the property was occupied by Atishi without proper allotment.
